Brief Description and Notes: Low, trailing, evergreen shrub with glossy leaves that turn various colors in fall; blooms in spring, fruit ripens in fall

Where To Look For It: Bogs (such as in the Pine Barrens); moist and peat-y areas; coasts

Ornamental Value: If grown in moist acidic soil, could provide a good low evergreen mat for edible landscapes 

Ecological Value & Roles: Valuable for some native birds and bees

Edibility and Other Human Use: Edible berries, well known seasonal food often commercially cultivated
